About

Nintendo's Game Boy came out in 1989 with a four-shade screen, a D-pad and two buttons, and played for many hours on four AA batteries. Designed by Gunpei Yokoi's team, it outlasted colour rivals; with the Game Boy Color it sold over 118 million units.

Tetris came with it in North America and Europe. Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Pokémon Red and Blue are among its best-known games.
