The SG-1000 was Sega's first home console, released in Japan in July 1983, the same day as Nintendo's Famicom. Inside it is close to the MSX computers of the time: a Z80 processor and a Texas Instruments video chip.
Its games are mostly Sega's own, many of them arcade conversions, such as Flicky, Congo Bongo and Girl's Garden. The console was followed by the Mark III, which became the Master System outside Japan.
