About

The PC Engine (NEC and Hudson Soft, Japan 1987) was the first console with a 16-bit graphics chip, paired with an 8-bit processor, in a box little bigger than a CD case. Its games came on credit-card-sized HuCards; it was the first console to get a CD-ROM drive.

In North America it was sold from 1989 as the TurboGrafx-16, against the Genesis and then the Super Nintendo. Its games include Bonk's Adventure, Blazing Lazers, R-Type, Bomberman and many arcade-style shooters.
